Morocco
Women come first even in the mountains of the High Atlas, at 3,000 metres. The project started some years ago with Hassan Oukazi and Dr Rosi Bonesi is complete, and the centre for women with disabilities continues its work.
We opened a textile centre where carpets and fabrics are made and then, through a dedicated sales channel, sold in Italy at very good prices for the buyer. As a result, we have been able to create income "for women" even in a place as remote and fascinating as Morocco.
I remember the first mission, with Dr Regonaschi and Lisa, who played with Maria, Rosy and Hassan's daughter, in the wadi of the Valley of Roses.
Maria and Lisa have grown up. The wadi has opened to the rains.
The High Atlas, unchanging, can now offer hope to the women of the textile centre.
