Amatrice

Never before had we felt so strongly that we had to do something. So we began a close collaboration, still ongoing, with Caritas Rieti, and for this we thank all the supporters who helped us, including the Gothamsiti studio, which handles communication through the website.
To Umberto, the Caritas Rieti psychologist, all our affection: with great generosity he introduced us to a difficult reality full of sadness. But with Luca Papetti, Alma Izzo and Dr Cesarina, a general practitioner in Amatrice, we managed to do good work!
The contribution of Santina Bianchini, who joined us on our second mission to Amatrice, was important: talking and knowing how to listen are essential if you want to work in these places.
Just as essential was the support of the Mazzucchelli and De Paoli pharmacies, and the contribution of everyone who came to the evening for Amatrice at the Nonna Mercede restaurant in Brescia.
On the next mission we collected trekking gear so we could reach remote areas that vehicles cannot access, such as mountain barns and high-altitude homes where people live in hardship.
In Borbona, after the 8 March 2018 celebration that Intermed took part in, time never seems to stop… in sharp contrast with the slowness of the few, far too few, lorries carrying debris to the disposal site thirty kilometres from the village.
Despite this, Caritas Rieti carries on, and the mayor of Borbona amazes everyone with her energy and her will to build something good.
Heartfelt thanks also to Carlo Verdone, who, together with Brescia MobilitĂ , lent his face to raising funds for Amatrice.
